Donghui Liu is a Toronto-based multimedia artist who works with acrylic painting, photography, sculpture and performance art. She was born in China in 1999 and has lived in Canada as an international student since 2019. Her diaspora background and her interest in the 60’s art (Minimalism, Conceptual Art, Performance art, Feminist Art and the 60’s architecture) influence her art essentially. Donghui’s art explores the relationship between human bodies, nature and the interior environment and how the three elements are engaged with each other harmoniously or critically. Her painting iconically focuses on the complexity of the human bodies, landscapes and interior space elements, she uses different art styles on one canvas to represent the idea of deconstructing, reconstructing and recombining the relationship between humans and nature.
